Here is a picture taken today.

This is my best garden in the four years since I have started.

Nice pics, meancoyote! Zucchini are looking well, I'd harvest some before they get too big (and loose their flavour). Toms are looking healthy, so is the little patch (that sunflowers?), and is that a pickle or a slightly odd-shaped cucumber?

I used to have a big veggie garden near where I live, some time ago (must've been 14 or 15). Did most of the gardening myself, but mum and dad always helped a hand. Quit when mum died :(

First picture: lots of different beans, kilograms of it.
Second picture: me with a big zucchini (we actually had bigger ones, even!)
Third picture: belgian endive (all got some sort of root rot), toms, corn, beans, etc.
Fourth picture: my favorite flower (monarda didyma), in its first year. The year after it grew over about two meters tall with thousands of flowers, even though monarda aren't supposed to grow bigger than about 150cm.
Image
Fifth picture: some of the 'red' potatoes, with carrots, beans and leek on the top of the picture
Sixth picture: big cucumbers, carrots and red cabbage
Seventh picture: the cabbages, with strawberries at the front, leek and zucchinis in the far back of the picture
Last picture: some more potatoes, in the end we had enough potatoes for an entire year (we don't eat that many, though).
Image

As you can see we had a very messy veggie garden, but we managed to get quite a bunch of veggies :) I really miss that place!
And sorry about the picture quality, not digital back then.

looks like a pickle, but its a cucumber, and yup, they are sunflowers, grown to shade the other plants.

Does it get hot enough to kill the weed seeds? (Mine didn't, so I basically sowed weeds when I used compost on the land..)

It's only a weed if you decide you don't want it there, and then it's compost or worm food! Everybody wins!

Here are a few pics of my gardens. (FYI they travel around the yard like giant compost amoeba.) Very little digging gets done, I collect cardboard slip sheets from the warehouse membership club (costco.) I cover the ground with that cardboard and pile stuff on top. Like other people's bagged leaves and grass clippings, free compost from the county or cheap mushroom compost from the local mushroom farm.

Sometimes I even simply plop cardboard boxes on the mulch and dump compost into them and plant raised beds that way!

Spanish moss seems to make a good cover mulch that seedlings can still come up thought.

I'm still kinda new at gardening but it seems to be going well.
