I have been thinking about this for quite some time now and have decided to either donate some $ each week or some time to needy people.
Whilst I am not a millionaire yet  I can still manage $5-$10 bucks a week (lets face it, give up ciggies = $12.50 a day) or spend 1-2 weeks a year (holidays) doing some good for others E.G. setting up or finding cheap material for AP systems for folks who don't have the ability.
There is only two constraints I have, 1) I would like to help my own backyard first.(W.A. or Australia)
This is not to say others don't need help (far from it) it is just saying charity begins at home.
2)It will be AP based (ultimately feeding good food to those who need it)
I would like to hear from you guy's any ideas on how YOU would go about this and what you would do.
Ideally it would be some sort of organization that would help Kids who haven't had a fair crack of the whip.

I accept both paypal and bank deposit gnash.....

Seriously, I think you've got a brilliant idea there.

I believe that just by offering free education and help on the subject of AP I think we can do a lot. I was thinking today about some of us setting up a Garden Week stall (except the cost of doing so), or offering AP short courses.

I talk AP to at least 1 person a day at work. Which is encouraging people to try other things. When I got my solar panels, a lot of people that I talked to were very interested in the concepts...

If you're thinking of donating food or have an excess of food.... try donating to the Smith Family, Salvo's or Bernados... someone like that ... they either provide meals directly (like the homeless) or food packs to those in need..

Or there's "meals on wheels".......

Lots of the different aid organizations seem to have different needs at various times, the one need that they all seem to have all of the time is funds. While many people do not have large amounts of money that they can donate, they do have small amounts they can give at various times.

My brother and sister-in-law's church, along with various other churches, involve themselves in the idea of volunteerism. Bro's church does a lot of projects here in the U.S., while many others concentrate on foreign ones. So far most of these projects have involved home improvements and construction.

One volunteer project that I have recently taken note of is a group who works on the idea of a farmer donating the use of land that is used to produce a crop which is then sold with the net profit going towards projects benefiting subsistence farmers around the world. (Sort of like Heifer International, but with the idea of field crops.) Perhaps this idea could be picked up by AP practioneers; you donate the proceeds of the sale of vegetables, plants and fish that you produced to projects promoting AP to subsistence farmers.

That sounds like a good idea moke, One farmer donates the use of land, others donate diesel, machinery, time and the proceeds of the crop going where it is needed.

Good Idea.

My year 8 students donated $ 200 last Christmas to a kids hospital in Perth in order to buy a Christmas present for the ward. All this done from the sale of vegetables grown on a small bit of land at the school farm.

That is what I like to hear about Johnnie! Your student's gained more from the course than just knowledge from the materials presented to them, and what they gained from the participation in the project. They gained something in thier humanity which will hopefully carry over through out thier lives! They learned about caring for others, and the value of personal sacrifice to help them. Well done! (We need more teachers/mentors in our schools and communities teaching these values!)
