To anyone with friends, family or property in the fire ravaged areas of Lake Tahoe....

Our thoughts are with you.... we know only too well how fast, fickle and devastating wild fires can be....

Thanks Roz... I didn't think you guys even knew about this.. well just so happens my Aunt Cindy is down here staying with my mom until they contain the fire. Her home is situated south of the fire closer to the lake and so far looks ok. She had to leave her cats and she is most worried about them. Most of the "homes" along Upper Truckee Road are vacation cabins, however there are certainly year round homes in the mix too, and those folks are going to have a very difficult time once summer is over. Winters in Tahoe are tough by even Alaska standards and people make their living primarily in the winter up there. I can't imagine where they will be living.

Yeah I want to add my Prayers as well. Four years ago the same thing happened in my home town around 350 Homes were lost (Kelowna BC fires August 2003). The only good that came out of it was that the community was brought closer together.

Unfortunately, fires, storms and pestilence seem to be apart of every part of the world. The main thing I can say is that I know that the residents of Lake Tahoe will pull together after the damage and will rebuild thier community. The biggest losses will not be monetary, but rather emotional and spiritual. Too often the loss of a home or business is like the loss of a spouse or child, it is something you loved and spent many hours in building. The thing to remember when you suffer such a loss is that structures and other things can be replaced, but the memories and feelings you have for a certain area can not.
