Les saw one of these on eBay recently... went for about $30.

Haven't found an Australian distributor yet... for those in the US, I reckon these could be the "bees knees".

Come on Les, surely you could knock up something along these lines...

Edited :

Yep, have found a distributor in OZ... had it bookmarked right along side the other lol....

Time for a cleanup in "My favourites" I think .... LOL

Probably right, point I was trying to make is would a man of your inestimatable abilities and genius be able to take and adapt the underlying principles and apply your limitless engineering skills to produce another of your awe inspiring moments of brilliance and creativity.

In other words.... could you build one huh :D

No need - bought one for $60 + freight

was pricing parts to have a go at the auto chicken feeder, but the wife wants a holiday down in NSW (visit her mom) and I am the designated driver (no drinking  ) - so couldn't stuff around with it

Best I start practicing my crow call

Think we must be at cross purposes here Les... have you brought a "chicken" feeder as opposed to a "fish" feeder....

Looking at the link you gave I was wondering how the hell you were gunna get your fish to line up at the tray and take turns lol

What message are you going to record on it?

I'd like to know what you think of this feeder after you've tried it for a while.

Ell, the one I was talking about uses a hopper the size of a five gallon bucket, all the way up to a 30 gallon barrel! If you want they sell just the power unit, which you attach to any bucket or barrel that you have on hand. Some of the units are solar powered, while most run off of D cell flashlight/torch batteries or 6 volt lantern batteries. Some models offer programmable feeding times and duration, while others can be set to feed at sunrise and sunset. Unfortunately they don't have the recordable feeding message.

Is "here, fishy, fishy, fishy" effective. Most of them I have ever had seem more motivated by the food than they are by me! (Until it is time for me to catch a few!)
Kevin

Just like Pavlov's dogs, fish can be conditioned to respond to stimuli. I would think the vibration of the food hitting the water would do it. Mine come up and boil at the surface any time I come near. But if you rang a bell or called "Here fishie fishie" before feeding, I think they would recognize that, too.

My fish come when I rattle the feed in the bottle
