Are you going to lay something in the hole first to protect the pond liner? Better safe than sorry, any sharp edge, root or rock may be costly.

Some old thin carpet works a treat. Just gives you that added security. You can then staple it to the wood, which will hold it all together. Then the pond liner goes over the top... Won't notice it all...

No fennel grow current, have no wife give her fennel to every day. Might possible grow cannabis try some time, not more than five plant, then is legal in Holland. Make lot of money sell to junks.

No but seriously, he does look a bit like Borat, doesn't he?

TimC, the rubber we bought doesn't need protection against roots, and we've already removed anything sharp. Furthermore, the bottom is smooth (because we put the tiles back in) and the sides are protected by those hardboard thingies.
We don't have any old carpet, but I could get some anti-rooting foil quite cheap, but I don't think we need it.

Too funny, Tom. You have been reading the -whole- forum, haven't you? Not too many people would have been able to figure out Dave/Bosnia = Borat connection. He doesn't post very often.

I think your tiles on the bottom sound great. Put Borat to work and keep building!

I did lurk here for a while, but not too long, and I certainly didn't read the entire forum. I just hit the search button :p

Anyways, didn't do too much today. I chiselled the edges off of the fence foundation and wall foundation so they're a bit smoother now (just in case; took bloody ages, though!). Also bought a bunch of screws and bolts. Dad told me to buy galvanised stuff, but I bought stainless instead. Cost a bit more of course, but it's so shineh! Just couldn't resist! Good thing is that they'll last longer, of course.

Going to screw most of the wood together tonight, and hopefully finish the fish pond tomorrow. :)

Well, I don't have to go to school (finished my exams, will get the results thursday, woohoo!) and I haven't got a job at the moment, so I can spend all my time on AP. And AP insomnia kicked in about a week ago as well, by the way..

I'm sure your 'oasis AP' system with those wetlands will be much nicer than mine! I'll only have a single fish tank and a single growbed.

Thomas you is a funny little guy! My have thought that your dad and my dad may be related. How scary that! (mine avatar mine dad) both very young for age, look spritely. Mine dad also complete nut case has the same look in his eyes as your dad

Have big struggle get here to say hi, but could see such resemblance could not resist. Happy fennel grow to you, and stay off the pot, it make you hair go curly, bad for you with so long hair, make you look like 70's pop starlet. Keep head banging my little Euro friend.

Dave

Hey Dave!
I think my dad's also a bit older than yours (but he still has quite some hair, for his age at least).
Talking about hair; did you mean something like in these pictures? I've never smoked though, and never will, it's disgusting!
And sorry, couldn't resist, going to have it cut soon so I needed a 'before' picture anyway (damn thing didn't want to focus through a mirror though).

Anyways, we thought we'd finish screwing all the wood together yesterday evening, but we were still busy when it started getting dark..
Image

All the big planks are screwed together now, but the bottom of the growbed still has to be attached, we still have to screw everything to the wall, etc. That hardwood's just.. hard! And we had to predrill all the holes, and make a small hole for the screwhead to fall into as well.. Hopefully we'll still finish it tonight.

Also, one of the half-tiles fell into the hole, taking with it a bunch of soil (as seen on the pictures). So I'm going to have to attach them to the fishpond frame, or something, so it doesn't happen again.. Yay. :x

Sorry about the horrible pictures!

Edit: Almost forgot! Look at my lovely basil and ciboules (spring onions), sowed only four days ago. The little basil seeds germinated the day after I put them in! :)

Yes, they are a bit trippy, aren't they? And indeed the system's huge, compared to the Sketchup model! Going to be a lot of plants :)
