My kale did fantastically last season - where did you get your seeds from Forest? I bought my plants from the nursery I think, but will grow from seed this year. Growth is great forest - you think it is good now, wait until the bed has matured for 6-12 months. My toms which I planted about the same time as you have heaps of little fruit and piles more flowers. Now to keep the caterpillers off them.

These seeds were given to me by someone at ALS, VB. I'll collect from these plants and try to keep them going in the future. These are scottish kale, ornamental kale (edible) and siberian kale.

Hi everyone. Just a quick update. We got our new fish yesterday, 100 silver perch fingerlings, which gwen at the fish hatchery refused to be paid for.

They've settled in well with the seven larger SP remaining from the last lot. Gwen is convinced the problem with the last fish was a DO problem, not contamination.

I took a photo of Gwens 2 foot long Mangrove Jack while I was there.

creative, I was just admiring the beauty of the mangrove jack, I have no info on it.

thanks monya and steve. I'm a tough old bird, and rarely give up on anything. We're about to harvest our first tomatoes, which makes me very happy. They were knocked around a bit and the foliage had to be picked off but that doesn't matter, I usually prune tomatoes anyhow.

Does celery in ap bulk up in the stems? This celery looks ok and we'll eat it but the stems are quite skinny.

some of my celery has remained quite skinny, whilst others have bulked right up. Depends on the variey I think, some were from seed, some seedlings

So you ended up with a crop of plants from the first lot of fish anyway, so all wasn't totally lost.. :)

My cellery has generally filled out really well, one thing I had noticed was that my cellery tended to absorbe the salt out of the system, the stalks were quite salty.

Those Brandy wines are very impressive for only about 10 weeks in the system, especially such a new system.. :)

Those toms are fantastic forest. Shows that new systems can perform very well. Believe it or not, mature systems (6+ months old) perform even better.

Hi forest, my celery didn't bulk up as much as normal, but it does have a nice sweet taste to it - wife used a few stalks in her home made veggie soup (imho opinion it made the soup  )

Does Gwen do other fish like barra (or other species for sale) - intend ringing her when fully setup

Put 200l of fish water into new tank today, my nitrates were starting to rise so did a small change

You have a serious green thumb Forest!
I find it hard to believe your fish problem was a DO issue but I certainly am no expert.
Glad your back in the fish growing game and all the best wishes to you and the H!
