steve i would even go as far as sayin get bronze comets to cycle the system then go for trout...... is funny how the stuff i have read online sayn 9 degrees is the lowest critical temp but the dudes at maccles were runnin at 6 degrees.........there is definitely hope for us melbournians lol

i think im might go back in a week or 2 with u to get more as the ones we got will be ready to eat in around 8 weeks roughly esp when 98% of what they eat goes towards their body weight

What temps do they thrive at.....my tank was at 17c this morning rising to 20c....how long did you say they take to grow out.....must look at the availability of ice bags....could convert the swimming pool over....aaahhh, just remembered the loving wife (swimming pool ruled out)...rip down the GH :sigh:

these were at 6C in the ponds and still feeding like crazy.

They had them up to 21C with some losses last summer.

during summer my tank got to around 26C i think, but that was with no trying to shade it or anything.

Les, the pool should keep below 20C during the winter spring there even if only due to thermal mass.

check the temp of the pool, i'm curious.

The farm sell a few to people that want to grow them out in their pools during winter before re-using the pool as a pool for summer.
