Grow beds going gangbusters with tomatos, basil and purple UFO chillies. The stuff growing up the trellis at the back is a climbing spinach.ImageImageImage

G'DAY all. Long time no post and I'm definitely overdue for an update on my system, a lot has happened. But for now.

Cucumbers and basil, tomato's to a lesser extent. The images show the problem and from what I've read it seems to be a sign of root waterlogging. Leaf edges browning fruits emerge but wilt.

I'm using siphon food and drain, working a treat and the water is well oxygenated. Media is expanded clay.

Advice appreciated. Should I slow the fill rate more? I really wanted to grow these.ImageImage

It could be a disease, deficiency or a lack of light too.

You say the edges of the plant leaves are brown,is that where it starts from? & is that on the older/bottom leaves?.

Are the tomatos having the same problem (brown edges of leaves & not fruiting)?

What are you feeding the fish? And are you adding anything to the system?.

Hey 7341, yes agree that disease might me an issue, but I've not seen anything matching this exactly on the Web. Yes, seems to be leaf edges first.

Lower leaves mainly. Tomatoes are not too bad and it's late in the season for them now so not expecting too much.

Light not a problem. At least I very much doubt it.

I've not actually got any fish in the system right now.

The water should be nutrient rich. I use liquid seaweed solution every two weeks or so and dose with CaCO3, CaMgCO3, Potassium Bicarb, lime at ratios recommended by the local aquaponics store. I also use EDDHA chelated iron.

Cheers

Sorry for the late reply.

Did you get this sorted?

You could rule out deficiencies & light then, but if it were a disease, what could cause it?.Maybe insects?
