Any problem using this? I know its mainly a hydroponics thing, but its go everything other than nitrates (which is where our fish come in), magnesium sulfate (where is where that comes in), and calcium, which is very easy to supplement, just add a good amount of crushed coral for example.

Any problem using Masterblend (and Magnesium Sulfate) to supplement in aquaponics? I think that that, plus some crushed coral (or heck, even some crushed eggshells in a mesh bag) would supply everything one's aquaponics system might be missing. And thus far, my fish seem to be handling it just fine!

Thanks!

First off, I’m an amateur, and I couldn’t find any information about using Masterblend in aquaponics, but doesn’t it contain nitrogen and phosphorous as well? If so, I would be concerned about excess ammonia, and I think the fish food usually provides adequate phosphorous. From what I’ve read, individual supplementation of potassium, calcium, iron, and other micronutrients might be safer, but if you’re testing your water you may be just fine. Perhaps you could speak to someone at the company.

I’ve had good success with Maxicrop seaweed extract, along with chelated iron, crushed seashells, and mag sulfate.
