I am the younger C lol :D

I used to be into just cichlids and tropical fish but recently since i worked with Brett Obrien up the hill i am starting to like allot of the freshwater fish like perch, trout, cods and many ornamental as well.

Hopefully we get the 4,000 liter setup soon and we can get some Murray cod or another cold climate fish. If it is summer by the time we get the setup done probably barramundi. Well better check with tim first lol it is his setup :D

lol hes both, but because i did work experience with brett he can get me pretty good prices now. So if we need to stock the tanks he would be the first person to goto.

Well this year Brett had 80% of all the trout (don't quote me on that) and distributed all of his stock that he had to buy from a customer just to get some for himself lol :D so i don't think we can stock with trout this year without paying through the roofs for them.

Dont log in for a few days and everyone has gone trout crazy.

Still plenty of cheap trout about NC, I sell mine for $1.10 each mostly to local farmers to put in their dams so they can fish them out at a later date.

For those after a cheap Trout Pellet you can get 20 kilo bags for $40 from Advanced Pet Care in Kwinana.

trout man,

i'm picking up the trout for dad, but i wouldn't mind chucking a few in my ibc becasue i'm seriously running zero nitrates and the pants are slowing right down due to the fact that the silvers and jades aren't taking much food at all.

i also have a few tandanus tandanus in there, wuite small (they'd fit in the trouts mouth!)

What are the odd of putting say 5 rainbow trout in the same tank as these and them getting along (and not eating the tandanus either!) ?

I had to take my tandan's out of my tropical tank as they were eating the smaller fish. They are about 2 - 3 inches long.

Steve, I have had Tandanus and Trout in the same tank but they were both of a similar size and had no problems. If your Tandanus will fit in a Trouts mouth there is a good chance that thats where they will end up!!

I know what you are saying about the Perch not eating much due to the cold water temps so putting in a few trout would solve your nitrate problems. Interestingly I have noted that my Perch have gone right off the pellets with the cooler weather but will still readily eat worms. Maybe give that a try.
