Any idea what might've killed them?

Shock....., but I can't help feeling it was because I brought them home!

Since then I have caught another 20 yabbies, and going slow held them in their own water, only 1 :( left. Caught another 10 and  (sshhh they are all still alive a week later ), don't like to talk too loud in case they find out I am involved LOL.

Something I was wondering about, when yabbies aestivate, do they look dead? .....being uncertain, the dogs and I share, they get the heads and I get the tails :D

eco, How long between filling the bath tub and placing fish in? Did you put fish straight in after adding water? What type of sealer did u use? Was it foodgrade?
I ask this bc i am looking to seal barrels with bitumen paint and don't want fish carking it on me. I am thinking perhaps stuff leached out of ur sealant initially but things are ok now, as doubtless u have done a water change or 3. Can't help u with aestivating, tho i hear it's fun, if somewhat solitary.

The sealer is one of those bitumen based paints suitable for potable water, had to wait three weeks after painting before cured. I washed, filled, soaked then dumped and refilled. System then was cycled "naturally" for a further three weeks before fish, I really think it was "transplant" shock that killed them. Was a cold night and I rushed them through aclimatising  .

After my system had been up for a couple of weeks ( only plant a tomato lateral cutting), some issues were becoming apparent ( support not straight, GB's not well supported etc ) and I NEEDED to revamp.

Soooo, I pulled it ALL apart and made improvements.
