HI Folks- Could not find any posts with this problem. I recently replaced my tank window due to scratches and baked on algae. In three short weeks, my new window has a ton of algae which I cannot get off with a rag. Concerned about using magnet cleaners as I don't want to scratch new glass. How do I clean algae off of lexan in a functioning AP system? I have used cotton towels to no avail. Thank you. Steve

1, get a pleco

2, I use aquarium filter pads (the blue / white material or similar) to scrub my acrylic tank inside. It may create a dull haze over time, but I have not noticed a problem yet after 3 years. Also, easier to see through slightly hazed clear acrylic than algae.

You are welcome. I have cannister style filters like the Penn-Plax Cascade. I think the filter pads or foam pads from those would work well also and be safe for the acrylic.

I just did a quick Google of how to clean algae from an acrylic aquarium and a few products from Petco popped up, including a squeegee looking scraper and a filter pad like I suggested.
