Hi I need some help I am buying two 800lt grow beds, they will be set up with bell siphons. my question is what size fish tank would be recommended for this, I will have a 1000lt IBC set up as a tank and around 800lt sump would this be enough for the grow beds

That will work well Bob.

I have similar water volume but a lot less growbed. I wish I was in your position.

But the most important ratio is fish mass to volume of wet media.

Some rules of thumb which are well covered in lots of posts on the forum:

try to turn over your fish tank water through your growbeds at least once an hour

at least 20 L of wet media for every 500 grams of adult fish - ideally 25 - 30 L and even more is safer.

Forgot to say that you would need to make sure your sump tank is kept topped up. Depends on what sort of media you have

I have expanded clay and, if you have the same, I'd guesstimate that you will siphon about 300 L from each growbed.

If sump tank volume was a problem, you could run one growbed as constant flood. Perhaps alternating them

Or don't fill the growbeds to the top.
