Gnash - on a tank in the washhouse. I have one.

Be aware that the spin cycle can rattle the tank and may compromise the silicon seal. I now use my spin cycle on a slower speed. This helped, can't move the tank...

So yeah, check positioning and see if the spin cycle rattles the floor or not.

Yes G6, someone else mentioned the star picket GH - I went searching for the right sized polypipe (cheap) and couldn't find any.

Like to hear how you progress if you take that path

Gnash06 couple of Q's...

The return on the SketchUp both sides of the blue barrels, are they grow beds? (sorry if this has been made clear)

What medium are you planning on using?

Will the blue barrels be stepped down or all connected into 1 big grow bed?

I think you mentioned you would have a tank pump and gravity feed, how is this planned?

Sorry about all the question, but your plans seem to help with some difficulties that I am having and I appreciate your in put. ;)

As far as fish tanks, keep an eye out for old galv. tanks that have rusted through, I cut the bottom off one reciently and pop rivited the manhole closed, filled the overflow pipe with concrete and painted the whole surface with a sealer (suitable for potable water), the sealer did the trick great and for $30 for 3000L tank I'm really happy.

I'm like you at the moment (not starving, but very broke!) and appreciate Freeby's from all over.

The plan (subject to change at a moments notice) is for the water to travel from header tanks down a single pipe to 1/2 blue barrels, the barrels will drain into two pipes underneath (left/right) and go to large 1/2 pipes and back to tank.
The water gets to headers via one pipe and a t-piece and I'm still deciding on auto siphons or cisterns (barrelponics style)
Barrels to have gravel/bluemetal and 1/2 pipe hopefully coco peat.
The first major problem I see is making sure the blue barrels are receiving equal amounts of water, I will attempt this by placing the sml off shoot pipes closer to the top or in the middle( looking down the length) of the larger/ first main pipe and adjusting the level to exactly horizontal (same as blue barrels), then the water will have to travel all the way to the end of the first pipe and start filling it before it flows out the off shoots.(clear as mud so far).
The half pipe will be at an angle flowing back to the main tank and will be lower that the barrels.
P.S. I'm not really expecting for this design to be trouble free, theres still alot of ifs, buts and maybes and I really hope to get away with using one pump but this design can easily accommodate a second pump and sump tank at short notice :?

Well hasn't this taken some time.

I have been busy gathering stuff to get under way to transform the out side laundry room into a tank house and slowly getting the shade house together.
As luck would have it, its raining on the only day off I've had in ages :x

I've gutted the laundry and started to reline it with core flute(old for sale signs). I'm hoping this will give the room some insulation from the heat.
And I've started to put up the shade house(not a straight beam in sight  )

I was going to build the shade house from poly pipe but I was given a heap of wood from an old patio for nothing, just had to pick it up!!!

I'm hoping to get a big under eve tank that will take up the left hand side of the room.

Nice, and a little concrete fingerling tank just outside there... How big are you making the greenhouse?

Hope you used the chainsaw before drinking the bundy... :)

Looking at the green house being 7m x 3m.

This will allow 6 half barrels down each side and two bath tubs at the far end with towers above them. (plans have already changed from originals)
Unfortunately the concrete troth has to turn into a washing/potting area for the Dragon ( patient GF whom puts up with my crap) so in the interests of peace on the home front I agreed

I have finally got my pump, 200w submersible for $92 delivered of ebay :D
just waiting for a suitable tank and some drill rods to build the frames for the grow beds.
