How all,

My fish are getting big and my kids won't let me eat them.....

I'm buying fish feed from Oz at Big Nutrtion. There postage is quite pricey.

It cost me $70 per 20kg plus $30 postage.
If I double the amount my postage also doubles.

Believe it or not 20kg doesn't last that long. I'm rationing the feed to stretch it out. But I think I'm not feeding the fish enough. As they appear always hungry and they are polishing the food very quickly.

Is there any cheaper alternatives. The postage is a killer......

I have just put fish in my tank. The closest supplier is 600km away and they quoted me $4 - $6.50 depending on the size 100mm-150mm for silver perch. I can't travel at the moment and I think freight cost would kill me and the freight would very likely kill my fish.

I took a trip out bush to an old open cut mine. I have a fish trap that cost me $19 on ebay and I caught 23 Spangled Perch and two Red Claw. They ranged in size from 100mm to 220mm and all it cost me was a fun day out.

The problem was how to feed them. They won't touch the pellets from Frenzy Fish Foods in Tassi and they spat out the beef mince. I've temperately fixed the problem by mounting the big insect zapper under the bridge over their pond. Now at night they have a constant supply of semi-fried bugs. Most are moths that the fish have to chase around in circles so they are getting exercise as well.
