C1, what else do you want to see pics of??
Apart from the tanks in that photo most of my water is in earthen ponds which are not really the subject of this forum.
Like many others on this site I am in the process of setting up my aquaponics system. Though I have been growing trout for years I have only more recently decided to combine the raising of fish with the growing of plants.

Getting them in April is good, I'll have the system setup and cycled by then.

Boy was I wrong, I'm still trying to get my act together!

I need some info about stocking density. I've got a tank approx 200l to start my trout fingerlings off in, but don't know how many to get. I'm cycling with goldies and looking for a grow out tank. Planing on a 1000l cube, or two 500l tanks if I can't find a cube, so how many fish?

Thanks in advance for your help. :D

SG- they grow pretty quick!
It depends on the size as to the number of fish= safe rule 3kg per 100ltrs.
waiting for slap if incorrect!!!
What starts off @ 30 grams gets to 500 grams in 6-8 mths under the right conditions

What grow bed volume are you having SG? Thats the real decider on your stocking density.

C1, so that would be about 60, 500g fish in 1000L. Not that it would be full to the brim, but I expect to lose a couple along the way and I've got to have the odd taste test!

EB, Did I read somewhere that grow beds should ideally be = to double the fish tank volume? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm planing to use several baths, joining them on as I get more. :D

Just depends on how big you want to get SG, and how intensive you want to be.. The system that I just finished building has a ratio of less than 1:1. 3000L fish tank, and 2500L of growbeds. It's going to be stocked with 100-150 fish

Probably in about two weeks, after I next get paid. I think Colac is further away from you so I'm not sure if me picking them up would help, unless you wanted me to freight them to you. I think there is a same day mob that do here to melb for $6, but don't quote me. What did you have in mind? I'm fairly sure the hattchery told me last year that they're pick up only, it would be easier if they could send them, especially with the cost of fuel. Of course, I could have my wires crossed. I'll let you know.
