This place seems dead... where is everyone hiding at? What are you working on? I get it the Aussies are bumming that Winter has come and a lot of us in the USA are still waiting for spring/summer to decide to stay for more than a day or two at a time... but isn't anyone working on anything while you wait? Whats going on in the rest of the world?

I’ve been reading through your thread. I love it so far! Where could someone like me learn how to frame something nice and strong? I’m mostly concerned about getting the design right

I have covered my system with greenhouse plastic it will stay on for a couple of months to help keep water temps up a bit , we don't get snow but do get very cold overnight this time of year . I have some Tuna farm net that I throw over to stop the plastic getting knocked around in the wind . Overnight temps got down to zero water temps this morning of 12c water temp.

Still lots of lurkers in the forum when I clicked on this one it had more than 50 views

I have been kicking around the idea of swapping my bio filter for this chest freezer to make a bio filter chiller. My system water temps are already around 85 degrees and it’s only going to get hotter.

Has anyone ever seen this attempted or have any input on the idea?

Replace? What about add for extra filtration?

Don't really need extra filtration the question is will it work? Don't know till you try so I guess I will try.

Keegun, I think the question would be how effective would it be vs. electric costs...unless you have free electric anyhow. I think I've seen people toy with the idea before but I think they found evaporative cooling to be more efficient... Bog cooler etc.

Just FYI, I added 40% shade cloth over my hoop house and it dropped my high temps be probably about 40F... Might be a better investment. I think I paid about $120 for a 20x48ft piece of shade cloth on Amazon.

Terra, I try to keep my thread updated with what I have going on. Unfortunately I've been really busy lately with work, started working a second job one day a week for my local scuba shop, plus run their weekly dive club that we dive one day a week, and I've been teaching scuba classes for them so I haven't been focused on improving much at home aside from what I have posted.

I am hoping to maybe make some progress this weekend on shutting my AP system down to start working on redoing my greenhouse but I don't think I'll have much progress due to lack of funds right now. I want to try and get tanks set up for more fish and come up with a layout that also allows more bed space. Maybe I'll post some ideas to get people thinking.

Just seems like we are in a season of noone being here. Maybe due to being a shoulder season that the Aussies aren't quite operational yet but those of us on the flip side are still trying to keep up as our seasons come to an end?

I feed off everyone else's projects to give me energy to work on my projects, and right now I need energy...son turned 3 and now have a 4 week old daughter... I'm tired and need some inspiration lol.
