i have built a shower filter out of containers.

the problem is the 1800l pump didnt output enough water to get the filter going

im using a 5000l litre a hour a pump instead but of course the flow rate is too high

i wondering whether to get another container to put the pump in then have pond fill up and drain back into sump

any suggestions on what to do?

Install a 'T' piece and a ball valve? Ball valve to control the flow to the filter and the 'T' to allow the excess to return to the sump.

ok thanks

thats sounds like easiest way of fixing it.

so the ball valve would have to be on filter side to adjust it ?

That's where I would install it.

Seems like the ball valve would have to be on the T back to the sump not on the riser for the filter or everything would just go out the T :?

Thats what i was thinking .

I might have to get more pipe or shorten the pipe so the flow goes through more of the filter in the container.

i bought a second container to divert the water and its slowed it down but i dont want to

drill in to the pond.

i was wondering what the easiest siphon valve to build would be.

Its only needs to be enough to stop the pond overflowing.

any ideas ?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking but I think maybe we need to know a bit more about your system. When you say pond are you talking about the Rubbermaid stock tank or the new sump?

Any chance of getting a pic of the whole setup and a better explanation of what you want?

You might want to lookup "No holes overflow" and if you can stand putting a hole in the side instead of the bottom then checkout "Solids Lifting Overflow" or SLO which would be an option.
