Biggest Ive caught is 1.1kg. The bream run is on and I went to the Evans head fishing classic last weekend to check out the action. They had a display tank set up with all the weeks biggest catches. Bream, flathead, whiting. tarwine etc.

I remember reading the biggest bream was 1.5kg but cant remember the rest.

Last update on the Yellowfin Bream trial.
They did quite well for a while.
Then one at a time they developed something similar to Hole-In-The-Head (HITH) disease which is usually found in cichlids, I think it's a protozoan infection.
I found that they are very slow growing and would probably like more salt than I had them in most of the time. They didn't seem worried by fresh water at all but it may have been a factor in the disease.
High nitrates are also considered to be a probable factor with HITH disease.
In my opinion Bream may be particularly prone to it but will admit that my water parameters would have been a factor.
Either way, I found that they grow particularly slowly and aren't much chop as a species to growout.
Using a system as a 'purging' tank to temporarily hold the fish (if you catch them often), as I was originally thinking, would still be an option but that's not exactly a typical approach.

You're right Tonzz. It has been bitter this last few weeks....but winter is winter (heading up to Sydney for 3 weeks on Friday....hopefully a little bit warmer there).
I've been trying to find ways to increase Omega 3 levels in my fish, and that's where my interest in estuarine fish (like bream) fits in as a lot of salt tolerant plants have higher O-3 levels.
I'm tempted now to set up a small Spirulina tank to add as feed for my SPs.
