I.m trying to upload fotos from my mobil using taptalk.
I live in g.c. A friend has a farm and said i could try an aquaponics system.
This is the 2000l fish tank i hope to use.
This is the store he gave me.
(See 4 first pics and plan).
I then read about salt baths to provoke the fishes immune system and to deparasitize. So i thought i would need a smaller, secondary system, and it would allow me to practice.
SECONDARY SYSTEM.
The secondary system is an ibc of 900l and 2 filters of 300l, old tubs i found on the farm.
I read that growing plants helps stabalize the water, so i added 2 dwb. I wanted to try nft, too, so i found square pipes 5 cm deep, ideal for small plants before transferring them to the dwb.
Unfortunstely, i sloped the nft canal away from the filters, so i had to add a second pump in the second bio filter. I did so because i wanted to avoid dead water.
The blue canopy is because there are pigeons nesting in the palm trees and they sxxt all over the place.
What have i learnt? When designing an aquaponics system, whatever combinations you try, only allow yourself 1 water pump, 1 air pump, and gravity.

Very good start. Looks like fun too.

I know it looks like a bombsite, but its a work in progress.
