Les, your system is almost like a genetic footprint for me. Have already got the sandpaper to round off those tuff 40mm dwv edges. My mate's duratough was nailed into his now rotting framework. Were you to use stainless screws thru ya piping, my tip is it would last til we evacuate to Mars. Mute point cause i know ya got it nutted. Really had problems with your pipe in a pipe thing in your system, but just bout got my head around it. Please keep pics coming, they help a lot.

Savage, i head thru Colac every 3 weeks. If you pop into the Austral bistro, those big bottles behind the bar belong to me! My AP system is very basic, but if you wanna drop by, no worries. If you read Simmo's autosiphon thread you will be able to get that part sorted. Great as a basic intro GB siphon. Bit of mucking about with your tap flow into GBs but once it is done you are set. Tubs for fish and GBs you will be able to source for next to nicks. Get to know the peeps at the local recycle joint. Rainbow trout can be picked up in Ballarat weekdays of a morning. They will grow out b/n now and Chrissy and you will look like a genius. Rock for GBs costs buggerall. If you have a spot out of the rain (tanks overflow, fish go by byes) you will be fine. I can pick up some fish pellets for you next few weeks should you get your shite 2gether. Honestly for 2-3 hundred bucks you could have a beaut starter system. My system is not worth driving from Colac to Geelong for. All you need to know is here in this forum. Should you get an advanced system up and running, you could supply Colac, Terang, Camperdown Supermarkets with their salad requirements. Get a credit card and get it happening girlfriend. Keep us all informed and start your own thread, it's the best way to keep yaself motivated.

Guys if duratough is the same as solarweave the pvc will cause it to fail. Just reading about my cover for my green house and it warns against pvc touching the solarweave cover. It may not be the same but check into it.

I think most greenhouse covers are the same AP they degrade when in direct contact with some other plastics like pvc and upvc etc.

If you put a few layers of poly repair tape (or even hotspot tape) on the pvc to create a barrier it`ll be ok.

finally a half decent fish pic. I have found if i use the camera flash it mitigates a bit of the sun glare off the water. These guys were purchased 7 weeks ago at a nominal 200mm for 2 bucks each. Lost 1 so far to bullying. Couple were flashing this morning so i dumped in 2-3 kg salt. See how we go.

should be 20 in there! Brick on plug on base of tank. Old spa, don't make this particular plug size no more, so brick on top and then let biofilm do the work. Filter in middle rhs of pic is spa filter. Stuff on the floor is shellgrit. Two black leads near board are to the heater wands. Other black tube near siphons is bubbler tubing. No toes sorry! I have a 40second video that i haven't been able to upload. Taken when fish were placed in spa. I didn't think they had grown much but just watched it and there is quite a noticeable increase in their size in that time.

Finished first lot of lettuce, new stuff planted.

Les, got pricing on your specs down here, everything is about 15% dearer. Not happy but getting some nice tubs for free so shouldn't grizzle.

As you can see i have room for plenty more fish in here. Rather than expand this system so close to the house tho, i will just concentrate on the next one behind water tank. Keep this one for early grow out, then grade to size in new tubs coming shortly.
