The trick is to make your hobby your work then you can have 5 days off having fun and 2 days rest!

Hiya Gurkan, nice progress. Looks like your tube channels (TC's) ;) travel quite a distance, I'd split them and feed each line separately for several reasons. With such a long run nutrients could be minimal at the end of the run, if the tube blocked with roots anything down stream would suffer and it would be easier to shut off just one leg if maintenance is required. Just my thoughts.

Cool, I will keep that in mind.

Only if it was paying the mortgage, we will just continue slaving away :support:

Made some progress on the weekend and emptied another grow bed to cary its new location.

I wrapped the sump with builders insulation paper.

right? lets all quit our day jobs and just work on AP all day long... I'm hoping at a minimum to position myself for early retirement (which from what I've seen means I'll start my next career which means I'll have to work even harder at home to keep up with all of the projects). I'm 32 years old and I've already been at my job for 15 years, but I have 33 years to go until retirement age... depressing! I don't want to wait 33 years! Need to get out early to enjoy life before I'm unable to!

Ha, right?! I'm 37 and felt EXACTLY the same way. That's why I did walk away from my day job and the girlfriend and I moved to the reservation. It's a lot easier to live and start an AP business when your living expenses are less then 1k/month!

I am sucked in by the capitalist system paying mortgages but soon, I might budge out and convert to an easy life.

By the way, it is raining since last night and the sump is full now with the diverted rain water from the rain tank. Rains in Canberra just hit the right time.

One question, for an IBC FT feeds into a 250L drum as an RFF, what should be the diameter of the pipes used in the SLO? I bought 25mm pipes, elbows and uniseals but I think that is not going to be enough. After RFF, I will be feeding 4 grow beds cut from IBCs.

I think mine are too small a diameter at 38mm, but I do have a larger system.

Mine is about 520 gallon so I am guessing compared to your 2600 gallon and 38mm SLO; I should be alright with 25mm SLO. I can start small and go larger if there is need be.

I like your DIY bulkhead connectors. Let us know how they seal.

Hiya Gurkan, looking good. In our 1k tank I've used 40mm, capped the bottom, with 10mm holes drilled around the circumference at the base. It works really well and extra holes can be drilled if the flow needs to be increased.

You might want to consider cutting slits instead of drilling holes if using clay balls. They minimise blocking by the balls and when the roots get in they cut through easier when turned since the roots can't accumulate like a rope.

I am using these at the moment and for the last two years they seal well.

I didn't have a drop saw to do this easily but I might try with a hand saw

I am already thinking of bumping up the diameter on the SLO, I am guessing 25mm will not be enough to feed 4 GBs.

Made some progress on the weekend. I moved another bed and worked on my filter.

I think the structure I built for the beds holding nicely plus the metal plates from the IBCs are providing the support

Filter is not high enough, calculation mistake there. I will be diverting the filter output to sump and one pump in sump will be feeding the both GBs and FT.

That looks painful Gurkan!, so unfortunate for you and the bee but a lot better than getting stung on the mouth or throat. Wishing you a swift recovery.
