OK, I have come up with some "creative ways" to limit exposure to sun. The person in the back, are they just protecting from exposure or welding?

place looks great! I especially like the ponding area b/c that is what I am going to have to do in the not to distant future when they outgrow the IBC/poly tank/???? setup.

watch out for that guy in the ghost hood... assuming they wear a wet towel over their head just to cool themselves down? Or he just didn't want to have his picture taken so he covered his face and put his sunglasses back on over the towel?

I'm loving the fence. It is so much nicer than my chain link fence (which I've taken down and reassembled 3 times now so it's showing some age, but also just my lack of skill and cheap parts used here for fence toppers instead of welded fence posts etc.) I won't be letting my wife see this particular page of your thread if I can help it =)

ETA: Haha, I missed the last two posts also commenting on this guy lol...

hah, trying to remember what it was that got in the last greenhouse structure... I was thinking a bear or raccoon or something crazy like that (thinking back it was Adam or Brian posting about bears in their threads I think...) I think it was just a cat if I remember correctly, jumped up on the DWC rafts and went for quite a swim if I remember? I was thinking those spikes on top of the gate were to spike whatever critters were going to come over it then if you leave it there for a day you could have roast whateveritis on a spit. Hopefully this keeps the kitties out.

Thai people hate the sun and Thai women absolutely hate dark coloured skin, there was an advert running on TV where two women who had broken down in a car were trying to get someone to stop to assist them. The first women tried with no success, the second women had a car stop at her first attempt, the reason she was using a Deoderant that whitened the skin in her underarm the other didn't. All Thais wear full sun protection all of the time, regardless of temperatures,my wife around the house is in shorts and T shirt most days,if we go out its leggings or jeans a jacket or a long sleeved top to cover her self up,she has a pair of stretch sleeves so if she is wearing a short sleeved top she can just slid these up her arms.
There were three guys wearing full head coverings,it doesn't matter what temp it is this is to protect them from the sun and of course the welding, but saying that they are arc welding just using sunglasses as welding masks or goggles. The picture shows the guys just finishing installing the gate,so today everything should be finished and Iam hoping they start on the fish house, the greenhouse erection starts on Saturday and I would like to have at least the basic frame done for that.
I reckon it was a cat that thought it was safe to jump up on the raft,I only use one inch poly and it must have gone straight through,I would love to have seen the look on his face.
Thank you Brian,we bought a house that was suffering from termite damage to the posts, the owners built a concrete house behind it and when that was completed they put the wood house up for sale,I paid just over $2000 for it. I hired a team of guys to dismantle it and truck it back to our land, there I hired three Thais to denail and clean the timber and when I worked how i wanted the house to look like we had a builder come in and erect it.
I hired a digger to do the footings and a tractor to level out the ground, then when this was finished the main house got built,I did the plumbing wiring and all the internal plaster boarding painting etc, hahahah and typical bloke there are still things that need finishing, but got to get the AP finished first.

Priorities! My wife was ecstatic when I go to complete all of the remaining items when we were getting ready to list our property for sale. Some were from nearly six years ago when we moved onto the place. There are still one or two things left, but will not happen I til we have a buyer and they close on the place.

I'll cover head to toe and wear a wide brim hat with a long back and this "cool sleeve" that I can wet or pull up over my nose if I need to block dust/debris.

I was a lifeguard in my youth and spent plenty of time chasing the sun to now start paying the price in my older years.

Picture update time, these aren't in any particular order but,the posts for the greenhouse are up,work commences on Monday for this, the fish house is underway and the filter and mineralisation tanks are in place and plumbed in,I still have the airlift to make and fit into the first MT tank and I am struggling for media on the second,I wanted K1 but I would have to sell the wife and child to get it.
You got to love the look on the wife's face, that is the look that says, How much did you say this was fxxxxxxn costing.

New fish tanks, filter and MT tanks,I have been doing more plastic welding and by using the speed nozzle rather than freehand welding there coming out leak free first attempt so Iam getting more confident in future projects or building for other people.
When the fish house is up I can lay a row of blocks then after levelling the ground I will fill with sand for the base, the fish tanks will stand directly on this.

Last two, again just pics of the site, greenhouse uprights and foundations for the fish house. Really looking forward to the coming week as there is lots of work to be getting on with, the greenhouse will be up but there is quite a bit of work to do inside this, but I want to concentrate on the fish house and get water moving,Iam having the same layout as before,RFS,my new Carlos fandango coned bottomed RFS,onto the Static Upflow with bottle caps, this time only one barrel but a lot more caps, then back into the sump. The sumps will have a trickle tower built over it as before,so pumping will be through the fish tanks to sump,up through the trickle tower and on through the troughs.
I want to start seeds this week as well so I not wasting time during the upcoming cold season, the best time for growing things, the humidity drops to a more realistic figure, and night time temps drop helping with water temps.

I like the extended PHD with bamboo handles. I cleaned/organized all of my storage area to regain parking/grow bed/general work space and could easily do with another 1500SF of covered storage...

Rob has me thinking of taking over space in the Coop to make a proper fish house and gain even more grow area I side the GH.

Guess I'll have to plan on the next house being setup the way I need.

On your sump, how deep did you set it into ground from the exit point of the DWC?

Adam

The water height in the troughs is 35cm or 14inches from the top of the sump, water level in the sump when the pumps off is 75cm and it did drop another 30cm before not sure now until it's running.
This time I wanted everything organised properly, a fish house with everything associated with the RAS in the area, the fish house should be large enough to have a reasonable storage space for the dry goods for the plant side as well. To the rear of the greenhouse the North end I want to build another covered area to use as my seedling benches,I want flood and drain benches large enough to start a plant for every hole in the three troughs.
Inside the greenhouse will be nothing but grow area as this time around as its getting a bit expensive to put together and I have promised the wife this is the last time....,so I want every available sq ft capable of growing something,I factored that in to the feed ratio so I should be good to go.
They guys had a good day yesterday with the frame up by the finish, today the polycarbonate roof panels should be put up,with just the door and the chain link around the outside to do,I decided on the same fencing as the main fence,it gives me security, good air flow and I can see what's going on inside from everywhere,I can shade the parts I don't want to take the sun,but I also don't want to block the late afternoon sun to the greenhouse.
The greenhouse guys are back today so everything should look a lot different by the end of play... :thumbright:
