Hi thjakits,no everything is coming down and being rebuilt, hedge is coming up around the boundary to be replaced by fencing, there are a couple of small trees to come down, then after clearing the ground I will build a new fish house and filtration system then get this up and running to have it cycled for when the troughs come on line, this will be a decoupled system again. Once that's done the seedling area will get done so as I can get things started and then finally the greenhouse and plant system,it's going to be lots of work but I want it right this time.

That is kind of a silver lining - if you've got to fix it all anyway, you might as well take the opportunity to change all the things you wish you'd done different in the first place? :support:

Dang! Welcome home. Without plants covering everything we can see better how much mechanical you've got in there; dang! The fishroom under the house needs redoing too? Man you do like a good challenge. I can not wait to see what you do this time. Best of luck with your upgrade, Dasboot.

That's it Mel,Brian there a few things I did that were an educated guess, this time I have more ideal what I need to have it right, plus Iam going to move and upgrade my workshop and storage area. With the greenhouse totally beuond repair I now have the opportunity to build something more substantial and with the correct amount of ventilation for a tropical climate.
I have also bought a plastic welder, plans are afoot to build a DIY coned bottom 55gallon plastic barrel, not sure how successful it will be but Iam going to give it a try. There are a few other ideal I have that I want to incorporate, hopefully when posted on my thread it might be useful and an inspiration to others.

Three hours in and the rain hasn't changed in any way,so it's time to play with one of my new toys. I was lucky enough to get this eBay new second hand and a third of the price of a new one,I have bought the following reagents,
Potassium,
Calcium,
Boron,
Phosphate,
Magnessium,
Manganese,
Ammonia,
Sulphate.
Really looking forward to using this and seeing what difference it makes over the way I was running before, Iron is being taken care of by a Hanna Checker,KH,GH, Ammonia,Nitrite and Nitrate by the faithful API kits. I could always at a later date use the reagents for the Photometer but they are a bit price,so seeing Iam starting from fresh the API kits allow me to test a lot more frequently without worrying to much how much it's costing.

Hahah I know what you mean, for what I got this for it was the bargain of the year, new in uk pounds it's £780 if I rember correctly I paid from eBay £280 but with no reagents, they were £450 for the ones in the list 100 tests of each. Because of the rubbishy weather I set the thing up from scratch again just as if it was new and did a phosphate check on my source water, I have checked KH,GH,Iron and PH so I have a starting point,as soon as get water moving again I can check and have a starting point.
I want to add a Dissolved Oxygen meter to my list of test equipment but I can get them cheaper here,Iam also going to add to the troughs a PH controler and auto dosing system again it's as cheap here so I have yet to get them. The controler will be on the plant side and help me maintain a steady constant PH at the level I select, the fish side I will still check and do manually as part of the daily routine.
Now does anyone have any good rain dances,I reckon if I do it backward I might get it to stop,it's at the level where your drowned in minutes and really don't like working in the rain... :(

Appreciate that Andreas. We may need a chiller for the trout next Summer though. The guy at the hatchery said his trout are in constant changeover well water at 55F. Today our tank was 68F which I got down a couple degrees by doing water changes. It'd probably be smart to go with a species that can handle warmer weather which comes with Climate Change.

Our neighbor state Texas is getting slammed by Hurricane Harvey. Expected to get storm surges of 6 and a half feet. Rainfall is just beginning and has dropped as much as 16" already in parts of Texas. Corpus Christi may see there annual rainfall (35") occur in the five days the storm is expected to settle into the area I don't know if this helps from a commiseration point of view, but it is what it is.

On another forum I'm on they're talking about some people one of the posters had to deal with at their work. Basically they're upset that the port they were going to join a cruise ship at has closed for the hurricane, and had to be told "No, they will not open the port and dock the cruise ship just for you if you call them and ask, and No, we do not think you should drive there just in case they change their minds!"

yep Mel, that sounds like the satire of the person who asked if the government could move the Deer Xing signs to a more convenient location, lol.
