Hi Guys,

In progress of building a DIY Indoor Aquaponics system with Samsung LM561C Lighting.
Far from finished but checkout my Blog for the current state and updates.

Will be growing peppers, leavy greens and herbs all year around
Mainly stocked heavily with Platys, Corys, Plecos, Shrimp etc

It looks low to me. You will burn the greens with those lights.

Thanks for your input, I dont have issues with burning yet. The bulb in the picture on top are only 8W GU10 LED bulbs. The middle shelf will have LED's as well (Samsung LT-H282D running at 75%, so shouldnt be too hot?).
What do you think is the minimum distance then?

Distance is a good question. A lot depends on the light, ventilation and crops.
Usually the grow lights are not fixed, but made available to move up as the greens grow. So it depends on your veggies as well, but that setup looked too low to me. Its probably good for lettuce, strawberry or other short greens, but I would not try anything like red peppers, kale, basil ( unless you really cut it back )... so you are really limited with that setup.

Keep on watching those leafs :)

I'm betting you can make your shelves adjustable.

Love your other hobby too. I'm a pacific sea kayaker. I love to fish!

Well glad to hear ;-) thats exactly what I system this shelf system for. Short greens especially lettuces etc. The Peppers and tomatoes garlic and all other tall growing stuff is going on the bench beside it with adjustable Light height. Checkout the blog for more details if you are interested.

Technically I could but its hard to get at the screws from the back, but as above I dont think I will have an issue as the shelf is mainly for lettuce and short herby stuff and dont have any issues yet. The tall stuff goes on another adjustable system on the side "the Bench".

Nice one, great combo kayak and fishing, cant wait to get out soon again hopefully :-) Tight lines and fair seas to you man!
