Gemmel, trout will survive higher temps than you might think.....

if they are highly oxygenated...... it's the DO that trought are dependant on.... in higher temps water is often has reduced DO.

Lots of bubblers and flow would do the trick.

Gemmel, you shouldnt have any problem getting them to pan size by christmas. In fact you should be able to start eating the larger ones by Sept/Oct if you feed them high (40%) protein pellets. The good thing with trout is that they are real fast growers the downside is that they eat heaps and the high protein pellets are quite expensive. I picked up 250 trout last month and the buggers are eating like crazy. The best price I could get for trout pellets was $2 a kilo where as you can usually get Perch Pellets for around the $1 per kilo.

Hmm.. tempting offer, though my 'infrastructure' would need a serious boost, in the start of the cold weather. :P heheh..

best of luck, maybe post in the general section.. there might be someone in Syd or closeby who would be willing to go splitsies with you.

 I came close to! But I'm afeared of losing fish if I start at the beginning of winter without a proper setup (incl greenhouse-ish type structure). I'm in no real rush, my courtyard is a work in progress.. I'm gradually letting it figure itself out, as to where which plants grow best etc.. & then will tackle the aquaponics once I have a better feeling (*cough&Fundingcough*) of what's best for my courtyard. :D There are a couple of things that are also dependant on me having a vehicle large enough to carry 'stuff', & as you know, I drive a little VW beetle!!

Blah blah, I just go on, don't i?! :P ahhah

Hang on.....so you had a 6 metre pipe running underneath a 2 metre long car, a phallic symbol out the front and back

FF, Barra pellets are also of a high protein content and I assume would cost a similar amount to trout ones.
