Can I get some recommended small/short plants for an indoor system? My grow bed is only about 35 cm below my lights but I don't want to put them up any higher since the lights are for the aquarium as well.
Had broccoli in there but they hit up against the light and burnt their leaves >_<. I live in Melbourne so something that doesn't mind the cold as well would be good as well. Also does the pump flow rate affect how well the bell siphon works mine doesn't seem too work to well, tho could be the pump getting too much solids in its intake :/.

You could probably grow basil and just prune it back, same with mint (just be careful it doesn't take over the bed). Either of these could get too tall so it's up to you to keep them in bounds and away from the light.
Basil
Mint

Baby Bok Choi
Baby greens or some other types of lettuce. I would think leaf lettuce where you trim them and let them regrow would work if the temperature is low enough that they don't want to bolt.

Some varieties of Beets might work.

That will get you started but I'm sure there are more.

water cress would be OK as well if you fancy that - but needs to be kept under control like mint.

Baby spinach, just keep cutting it back.

Strawberries if you're not running salt.
