Ok the other day I found some insulation that would work for the fish tank, today I found out the cost$$$$, nope! But today I also found a product that looks the same without the cost, only$50 for 25mtr its called floor protection? Same diameters same thickness? 1/10th of the cost, 5mm foam underlay with alfoil outlay, the same as the other stuff?
What are you using and do you think this will keep the tank warm enough for barra?

:dontknow: :notworthy:

Compare K-Values (R-Values in the USA) not thickness to figure out the insulating properties. Makes sure to insulate the bottom of the tanks as well. I had my fish tank resting on a 1" thick marble slab that was acting like a heat sink causing temperature drops in the tank over the night hours.

I use rockwool which is relatively cheap and easy to use. But make sure you do not leave a void between the insulating and the tanks, otherwise you will lose the insulating properties of the material.

The bottom of the tank its to late for, until I get the second fish tank and the sump tank is 300ml submerged, so I am not digging that up again! Gee took for ever to dig that little hole, I am handicapped, I cant put my beer down for too long!

Lol, well if you have the FT in the ground, then you should be getting some insulation already from the soil itself.

About the beer, you should consider getting one of those helmets that holds two cans, or even one of these:

I live in WA. I have a 431ltr beer fridge, ok I let the kid put some food in there, but the beer is cold as ice! I wouldn’t want a head freeze or a chest cold,

How'd you go with keeping the barra warm?
Anyone else effectively kept barra through a Perth winter via tank insulation?

Aaah a blizzard thread, sweet memories. ;)

I believe people have kept barramundi over a Perth winter however they are either moved inside in a heated tank or in a shed Ras system... With heating...
Outside in an AP system insulation or not, forget about it.
