Hi Sri.

I think you've got it around the wrong way a little.

The main job of the media is for nitrification, and as a base to hold the plants through. All the nutrients are in the water, and will move around the system constantly.

Playing with the nutrients is more keeping track of things like potassium, hydro growers get specific nutrient profiles for tomatoes for optimal growth, and I'm just trying to mirror that.

And Boss, still waiting for them to ripen, time will tell on taste.

Hi Colum, is this a dedicated solution just for tomato's or have you got other plants growing in it and if so are they better off?

Pete.

It's all in the main system.

Basically doing things like potassium tests, trying to keep it around 200ppm, and lower nitrates (have mint growing, hack it back to nothing if it gets too low, leave it going nuts if it gets too high, same with over planting lettuce, etc).

http://cals.arizona.edu/hydroponictomatoes/nutritio.htm

I'm just experimenting atm, but it seems to be giving great results.

The lean pruning method works a treat too.

speaking of the green pool - was wondering if you managed to drown the neighbour and grow fish fry on the protein....

what happens next ? - do you get a goldfish quantity to sell ?
guess you cant really mix new fry and juveniles.

p.s. those fish eating bugs are weird....

I just dismantled the pool, and pulled out 65 goldfish. They are big enough to go into the main tank without getting eaten.

I would have gotten more, but I think the dragonfly larve (the bugs) took out a lot of the fry. But not enough to sell, well I'll see how nitrates look, and if they get too high, I'll sell some. :)

I took some photos.

And I'll have a video obviously.

And where the pool was, I might need some grass seeds:

Check out this cluster (lollipop tomato):

I am really behind on posting my videos.

I am actually really happy with how my videos are coming out, they seem more professional (at least to me), and pretty interesting (and to me also :p).

There's a program called filmstro, it has a massive library full of songs, and you can control several parts of the song, so tempo/power/momentum. So you can make it just play a very slight background with just a few instruments, or turn it all up, and it goes into full music like at the end of the video.

Is quite handy:

Couldn't tell you the song though, it's got masses of them and I wasn't paying attention.

Too bad, I kind of liked that one. I watched the last two videos. I like the formatting you've done with the white text on the videos, I haven't seen many like that so it makes it distinctive, sort of like branding. Anyway, good job on the videos Colum :thumbright: .

Will be interesting to see what affect it has. Any side effects on the fish side?
