They were ones that had gone off in the back pantry. I did discriminate, have done white, blues, and reds.

Got well over a kilo from some individuals, some only a few spuds... normally dependant on how long I grow them for, or if the snails smash the plant.

Ive not long harvested all our spuds. I did 2 rows approx 6 metres long, one of dutch creams and one of rubi lu's. I think there was approx 10 seed potatoes in each bag from a local plant nursery.

This bed previously had a huge crop of pumpkins and after harvest I threw a few bags of cow manure, tilled it through and left it for a month or so. Originally this bed was made up of a lot of compost, ash, cane mulch, newspaper and bio-char.

Im not sure of the total harvest count or weight but I was happy with the yield. I hilled my original rows and then hilled a second time during growth but did notice as mentioned previously in this thread that there were no or very little spuds above the row level.

I happen to be an EXPERT at potatoes. Well killing them anyway. I've started them in a box several times. It seems when they get growing well, I either hill them too much, or water them with fish water, realizing too late that it was quarantine water at 5% salt. THey looked good for a few days and I thought I was okay, then...they all died.

Looks great fella's, thanks for responding. I'm trying to figure out the box or bag method for feeding a group of young men in a small area with no room to soil plant.

Well, I'm joining in the potatoes-in-bags fun with some that sprouted in the pantry, so we'll see how I go! Given that so many people have been saying they didn't get extra potatoes above the original soil level, I've just filled the root pouch, planted 'em, and called it good.
