Gordon may not like this Bullwinkell but you could make your own l-ion battery pack. There is a guy on the net who made an off grid battery bank out of (I think) used laptop battery packs (Obviously only kept the good ones). :)

I suspect every 18650 battery I've bought from ebay is the unloved detritus of sleepy Chinese laptops. I no longer trust the international universe :)

In fact, if I were a country, I would secrete my toxic waste into laptop batteries, and export them off my land so that others might have to deal with it.

Laptop batteries or Kon Toki lamps.

Why else can I buy a bamboo lantern from [big hardware store] for $4 that stands 5ft tall, and was freighted from the other side of the planet after being hand crafted, and still makes a profit at this end.

Nuclear export Kon Toki waste.

But I could be wrong :)

If BW wants to make one as described above for his river trip, he'll have to upscale to a barge to take the weight! :laughing3:

I have to lose 20kg from my existing ethanol to body fat carbon sequestration program I've been running for the last 30 years as it stands.

Every kg I lose is one more kg of kit I can take with me.

so yeah... light weight is important.
