Just sharing my experiences as noob aquaponics enthusiast. This is my 1st post.

I had the same problem with my floating clay balls.
I noticed the problem was the type I was using.
I noticed that most advertised clay balls packaging is advertised as per litres. Some sites would advertise the weight. Some brands would advertise volume and weight. Even though some brands would advertise each package with the same volume in litres some had different weight.

My 1st clay balls where advertised as 50 litres but had no weight advertised. They floated really well. Useless for aquaponics. I’m guessing they where catered for hydroponics.

Lucky I only bought 2 bags.

Did some research and found CANNA AQUA CLAY where the heaviest. They did work well.

Yep, generally Chinese produced clay is light and breaks down while all the European produced/branded clay is good... :thumbright:

Mine is still floating 4 days later. Soap was suggested to break down the permeability of the balls?
Not sure how true that is?

Clay balls will float forever if there are air pockets sealed inside them. They still float after over 7 years in my small system.
Soap wont make them sink when air is sealed inside them, but it will kill your fish.
