No, not as far as I know. You need the chloride ions in regular salt. They compete with nitrite and prevent damage to the gills. This has some information on calculating the actual amounts needed but you probably don't need to if you just use the 1 ppt amount - http://www2.ca.uky.edu/wkrec/NitritePonds.pdf

All week my nitrites have been 5 ppm or above I didn't check yesterday but today nitrites are down to .50 amonnia is at 0 would it be OK to feed the fish

I'd probably wait till tomorrow and check again. Fish can take long periods without food so they'll be fine. Have you lost any to the high nitrites you had earlier?

Let's assume that it's zero tomorrow, then as long as everything else looks OK you can feed but start with just a little and work your way up over a few days - check to be sure the filtration is handling the changes. The filtration can be touchy at first but will stabilize as time goes by and the bacteria get better established.
