Not the only way at all - could have the beds at 2 levels with one set feeding into the next (as I suggested earlier). I do like that valve though MF.

I was kidding VB.... and the more I though about tiered beds, the more I thought it might be the ticket.

Lets say for the sake of trying to imagine this concept, and for ease of visuals, we just line all 8 beds up in a stacked tier with one head source at the top of the stack. Each bed can handle 250 liters and our sump is 2000 ltrs. The pump begins to feed the rearing tank and water starts to flow into the first bed.

Question 1) Are we using auto-siphons or stand drains? I don't think auto siphons will work in a tiered design because each transfer will lose a small amount of water? I would like to hear yours and other's guesses.

The 1st bed fills and begins to fill the second, and so on.

The pump shuts off around 1000 liters and the water makes it's way through all eight beds.

I think to cascade with auto-siphons, each bed in the sequence needs to be a little smaller than the previous to be sure the autosiphon kicks on.

The pump could run continuously if it filled slower than the beds drained.

^^ that's what i thought too Janet^^ I think I would run a standpipe and drain slower than flood, but instead of eight beds in a row, split the flow coming out of the rearing tank and feed two sets of four. I'm curious to see how AP plans to utilize "our" space ....

I have decided to get a bigger sump it will be 3000 lts. This should enable me to flood the beds all at once and I am thinking more towards standpipes. The sump will be outside the greenhouse and below ground level. Below is the new layout design for my Greenhouse.

Base rail on. This is were the cover is attached to. Crusher dust all raked and level as one can be by eye. After a little water it will set very hard.

Yes Vb the base plate is part of the kit if you are cementing in the footing tubes.

Wot is the other option AP - other than cementing in the tubes. I thought the guy told me the tubes got belted in - like those roadsign bases I thought.

VB the other option is to drive in the posts witha drive ring on a jackhammer. But you will have to dig a trench around the greenhouse 200ml to bury the cover and fill it in again. I did not like this option.
