Interesting looking system.

Are you just relying on the plant pot roots for solids removal and biofiltration?

No sir! Using a large black feeder trough which you can see in the third to last picture as a fixed biological/floating waste filter, and there is a secondary one at the exit from the pipework into the sump :)

Hi
I like it.
Parts of my system are very similar.
A couple of points.
Tending plants on the ground will involve, a lot of bending.
Plastic pipes are like motorways to slugs and snails. Consider copper tape etc.
I see no system to set the water height in the tubes. So assume you are using NFT.
I use sponges to germinate seeds and have been experimenting with wicking strips cut from ‘J’ clothes to “train” them into tubes.
I also use a floating raft and one tube where the water is set to a higher level.
A net on the tank to stop jumping trout is essential.
The tubes act as a radiator/heat collector. The ground placement may mitigate this to some effect but beware of high summer temperatures with trout.
