All pig meat has to be cooked well here or you will get sick. We all have been hit with bad pig meat and it takes 3 to 5 days to feel better. It is just an extra free bonus you can get. And none of the pig shops have refrigeration for meat. They kill one pig a day and sell it. If not the left overs go to the rats or somewhere? By that time the meat has been out all day and getting rancid. So buy your pig meat in the morning while it is still kicking.

I mean the vegis. I remember a pig manure runoff got into some spinach farms and cause a huge e coli outbreak.
most people don't like spinach, the majority of of the cases where people who ate icecream that contained the infected spinach.

I don't think they care, as long as they get rid of it and the plants do well. They have been doing it this way since time began. I don't think they will be putting in toilets for the pigs. Every animal poos on the fields including the workers.

And I will pass on the spinach ice cream also.

the thing is, it was vanilla and chocolate ice cream. somethin' about it enhancing the texture somethin' er other.

Do they sell live worms for bait there? Any kind of worm will do. And there is probably more than one way to introduce nitrification bacteria before adding any plants or water, which will shorten months to days. Also, many types of bacteria excrete all their water when it gets too cold for them to function, surviving temperatures well below freezing. I think the two main advantages aquaponics has is less water (unless you live here, it's about the same) and planting density if you have a circulating system. And you grow fish also, the best kind of meat. and If you make your own fish food to ensure the best fish poop, combined with a plant's unlimited access to water.
I planted my beans in the dirt garden a few days before before transplanting one to the ap experiment and the put a bunch of beans in gb. so far the only beans are in the ap.

On a positive point.. can you use an RO water filter, to give pure water for the AP..
I KNOW IT WILL COST, because of the power.. etc.. but it must be cheaper than bottle water, which I suspect may be questionable as to how clean it is..

have you even read the most basic principals of AP?

Do you understand what a recirculating system is?


when this thread first popped up i thought "something decent may come of this" but it has just degenerated into 13 pages of you showing you dont understand the concept of AP.

you want to do some decoupled high management system, but you arent even doing the basics correctly.


no wonder you cant even grow lettuce, it sounds like you have no bio filter, just a solid filter and then throw all your ammonia away before it can become something the plants can use..... not that it ever would if all you have is a *frack* fibre filter.....

just go back to basics and stop trying to get light years ahead of yourself!!

How many time do I have to write this: My main fish tank is the family tank and will NEVER be hooked up to any AP system. Can I make that any clearer. It is a family fish tank. PERIOD. It only has a filter floss filter and I added a UV in line. It is overstocked right now. Way over stocked. To the point where I have to do many water changes and pump in lots of air.

We have been using this tanks water for any planting we have been doing. I had 1 AP unit up and running as a test but have since stopped it because of other projects of life.

I have LITTLE ROOM inside and I cant afford the luxury of giant beds like most of you have outside. My outside is only a balcony which is now covered in plants growing for a future AP system if any.

The lettuce I grew from seed. That took a few months of trial and error to get right. The fish water is Ok and better then tap water for the plants. But it is not some growth miracle. The K value is too low. @ on K is almost nothing and I have proved that by adding more K and having the plants respond, even overnight.

So I would like Scotty or another Mod to close this thread. I don't need you to insult me here. It also shows that no one who has the answer will give it up either or this thread would have been done on page one.

Maybe if you read what is written before you go off on a facking rampage you would think differently.

MY family fish tank has NOTHING to do with and never will be connected to an AP unit. I only use the water as a Base for testing. Period! If you don't like that, that is your problem not mine. If you don't like this thread, why add pages of junk to it.

We collected the 200+ minnows so they would be the fish in our AP unit and would get moved to it once done. We went to pick up the AP FT and I passed on it because of a crack. I have not ordered or found another one yet. We have all the GBs on the balcony growing right now. They are waiting for a stand. The stand will be built around the tank.

As far as the perfect water goes, please consider it closed and over with.

MODS, please close this thread. I will do you all a favor and leave. I don't need this fracking crap on a thread. I thought this place was different then most forums but I guess not. Thanks to all that helped me so far.

I dont get why you are having a hissy fit, i might have been a bit mean but thats because i have told you multiple times now that you are doing it all wrong and dont seem to give a shit, but still expect experts to come and tell you how they run thier comercial AP (inbetween getting totally off topic about pigs in china).


how hard is it to simply add a proper filter to your indoor system and run some NFT tubes out on your balcony?
no one ever said anything about needing perfect water, that is your obsession, we have told you to just do it and stuff will grow!!
if stuff isnt growing, then read more and find out what you are missing!! (which i alreadt told you, bio filter and stop doing water changes)

i mean really, AP can be a simple as adding a horizontal drainpipe with some holes to a home aquarium..... but you dont want to hear that do you?

lettuce uses almost nothing but nitrates!!! if you put in a bio filter instead of some silly floss filter and didnt do water changes, lettuce would grow in a *frack* week!!!

if your home aquarium was setup properly for your tests to ever have a chance of working you would have.... 0 AMMONIA! you wouldnt be doing water changes because ammonia is too high! you would have high nitrates and 0 ammonia!!

It is hardened glass and can not be drilled for a sump or other bio filters to be added. I am just using it to hold about 275 fish at the moment. Can you count. That is over 10. The FT is just fine when it has the right amount of fish. I am/was stocking it for the other AP FT. But you cant read English very well and have to make up shit to make yourself feel better.
