Thanks for the emails guys... :) But I was asleep...

With a bit of luck the forum will settle down and start behaving again soon, it tends to do this every 12 months or so for a few days, then it will be good for another 12 months..

Thanks to everyone who has sent me emails when the forums been playing up. Yes it has been having some issues for the last few days showing errors, I'm still not sure exactly where the issue lies, sometimes it's a specific database error and I can fix the particular problematic table. Sometimes, like last night, the whole VPS container was stopped which I've never seen before and I restarted it a number of times.

I've done some checking of tables in the database hopefully things will be a little smoother, but then I can't be sure that it's not an outside influence affecting things, at one stage yesterday the CPU usage was up to 100% while normally it may sit around 2% or less.

Anyway, just so you know whats going on.. I'm onto it and monitoring it and trying to solve it... :)

When I pick the automatic login in option I commonly get SQL errors and need to leave that option off now.

I'm camped at a pretty nice free camp in the middle of the forest with good phone reception at the moment so things aren't too stressful. Lots of koalas in the trees, kangaroos at night, loads of birds. :) If I was on the road between places and in poor reception areas it would be a bugger..

The search function is having issues at the moment... I've tried repairing the table and it doesn't want to play the game right now... I'll keep trying but don't be surprised if you get errors when trying to search. It won't work.

Not your computer or connection.... The problem is either with the database or the server, or both.. I have just put a job up online for a person to manage the server and sort out all of these problems once and for all. Hopefully all will be perfect in a couple of days.. Often in the past things have come good by themselves within a few days to a week or so, but this seems more serious than that.

Used to have these issues in the day when I built websites... often the server owner would do upgrades/security changes or just hose the DB without mentioning they were doing work. They never seemed to care that their clients websites could be blown out of the water... some things never change...

Sorry, missed that Arbe.. Details of?

I've got someone working on things as of today so with a little luck things will be running smoothly soon.. There may be a few little hiccups as he works on things perhaps..
