While reading through this amazing thread, just saw your post about apple cider vinegar benefits. I couldn't resist describing my own experience of this magical potion. We will commonalty clean and oil up some bananas and toss them on the BBQ. Skin and all When they turn black, remove and slice. remove hard ends and eat everything. We are not eating them for the OP reason but maybe it helps in prevention. Sometime we add a slice down the middle and add spices.

From what I have read so far, Banana peel ash is really good for plants. The peel should be full of K in the NPK
