Hey all! There... really isn't a point to this post. I'm just excited to share the fact I'm going down to woodvale pond and lilly to pickup some silver perch tomorrow!
I should be able to get feed from there as well I hope?

One final water check before the big day.


Wondering if I should salt before putting them in.. think I'll do it if needed I guess.

THEN.watch that pH.. what is the value.. Yellow is yellow.. is that 6 or five of four ..

I would like to see the pH colour with a slight green tinge.. just a tinge.. showing that it is closer to 6 and not 4..

The purpose is explained by the TAN table, which shows a significant benefit in a low pH , and some salt, in minimizing the effects of ammonia and nitrites...

PS - I often fail to do readings.. Just a pointless exercise, after a while..

BUT - my FISH tell me.. every time.. They fail to respond to the food..
I check and the pH is YELLOW..

So in goes the Bicarb, and the pH turns that green tinge and the fish eat again.

Not sure what you see on your screen buidoi, but the pH looks more green than the ammonia?

But it does look very low? Wouldn't hurt to be a little greener, esp if it drops as the bacteria expand to cope with the new fish load.

Thanks guys! They are in, eating heaps and looking healthy for now.

Looking at the PH, it's about 6.3 I believe. They came from a ph of about 6.8, so it wasn't too bad a change.

Should I buffer the system with some shell grit? I thought about 6 was ok...

I never salted, as they all seem healthy and happy. The person I bought them from said there was no need to unless something happens...?

The bacteria are pretty well established I hope, as it's been running off powerfeed for about 10 months...
