just received my bottle of maxicrop but noticed it says on the bottle (this product not intended for agricultural use on any food crop). did I get something wrong? If it is right do I just follow instructions on usage. one once for every gallon?

Maybe it depends upon the exact product? Which Maxicrop product did you buy?

On the Maxicrop website they certainly have images of human food and for some of their listed products they say things like:
Quote:
Made from fresh fish from the Atlantic Ocean and contains no chemical additives.

And in their Application Guidelines, they include instructions for Fruits and Vegetables:

Application Guidelines and Guaranteed Analysis

Maybe this is some other Maxicrop you have? Or perhaps it is a disclaimer warning mandated because of lack of FDA testing? :dontknow:

The label has to do with this legal case where they were required to put the label on their products by the EPA. Apparently Maxicrop and Maxicorp plus Iron are considered pesticides by the US government. They were fined close to 30,000 and had to meet other stipulations or be fined again. The fine had to do with not registering their product as a pesticide. Maxicrop and Maxicrop plus Iron work on sucking insects. How this should affects us and our use of the product :dontknow:. It may just be that since it was unregistered EPA hasn't tested it and doesn't know it is safe or not :dontknow: . It does use the same seaweed found in Seasol and that appears to be the pesticidal ingredient. Since my bottle predates this decision there is no warning label.

edit: I guess Seasol contains bull kelp as well as ascophylum nodosum. Maxicrop doesn't have the bull kelp just the ascophylum nodosum.

no, don't go too strong in the FT else you will use a lot, your fish tank will go brown...
if you search Seasol (which comes up more often) many people add around a capful or so to IBC sized systems.

to reduce any issues and maximise the distribution to plants my preference is to mix it up in a watering can at the watering can rate and simply pour onto the grow beds. I then water in another can of just FT water to get it all down deeper in the GB.

The March 10th post in this thread is relevant.

Concentrate Maxicrop ...one tsp powder to each gallon for seedlings. Why pay for shipping water?
