Melbourne sounds nice, 25.5 inches of rain a year, we get about 4 inches a year. sometimes it only rains 2-3 times a year.

5 months of growing time isn't long...... :? I can see why you have to start them indoors.. I forget sometimes how good I have it here, growing all year round..

How much rain did you get annually in NZ Rup?

About right Jaymie... that's why most kiwis are 6' tall or more...

Otherwise they'd drown .... :D

Where I grew up , on a dairy farm on the side of Mt Taranaki we received an average of 150-200" a year.... that's 3750-5000mm per year for those without a calculator.....

Mate I know the story of Noahs Ark was written by a Kiwi....

I've seen it rain for 40 days and 40 nights ... LOL

Kinda funny... standard item of footwear here in OZ... a pair of thongs ...

Standard item of footwear in NZ.... a pair of gumboots.... or ugg boots ...

Remember when I was about ten... we'd moved into town..... house was about 750mtrs away from a creek and about 100mtrs higher than the creek.....

Started raining....hard.... went to help the neighbour closest to creek move some stuff....

1 hour later.... after 400mm of rain in 1 hour.... dad, mum, myself, brother and two sisters and about 40+ other neighbours were sitting on the roofs of about three houses waiting for a boat to rescue us....

I kid you not..... creek rose over 100mtr in height in less than an hour....

Was flowing through a narrow gully I admit..... but awesome display of nature that one was....

A couple of pics from back home ... (pinched from the net)....

Coastal shot shows "bulge" on northwestern side known as "Fanthams Peak"... last eruption - about 350 years ago - now the ski field....

The farm was just below there and (supposedly) below the snow line... yeah sure
