Can stainless steel water tanks be safely used in aquaponics systems, for say filters?

I'm talking about the kind that are used for potable water storage, like we have here in Cambodia?

Stainless steel is non-reactive. It does not corrode and does not release any toxic chemicals into the water. They are suitable for potable water so they should be suitable for aquaponics.

Expensive but the gold standard. If the same level is maintained over time you'll start to see pitting at the water line (many years) from the ionized nature of water, but that's unavoidable.
