Starting to build another growth bed. existing is LECA. Is shale better?

If they were the same price I'd go with the LECA but they will both work well. I've used the LECA but not the shale so take it with a grain of salt. For me it's mostly about the shape, if there are sharp edges, weight, and cost. From what I can tell, neither of these have sharp edges. I like LECA's shape better. I think LECA weighs less but costs more.
