Joel, you have an incredible garden and you're a very good gardener. To grow jonquils next to pawpaws and cabbages or brocolli next to sugar cane and cactus. I also like the jungle feeling you've got going on and everything is healthy. That, my friend, is good gardening.

they have a mesh bottom and 30 1" holes on the sides. they are fiber glass, it would take alot of work to make them hold water, and the soil(rocks) here is no good for growing in so i need them for dirt gardening.

Forest,
How do you know when your bananas are ripe?
I have some which look big enough to eat, but are not turning yellow and the days are getting cooler.

fizzy, if they're big enough, cut them down. You cut down the entire sucker, then cut off the bunch. Take them to a protected area, like your verandah, hang them up and let them ripen there.

This is a bit of my garden at work, it's purpose is to demonstrate the use of our products (compost and vermicast) along with other recycle materials. In fact the whole garden is based on reused bit'n'pieces :D. the emphasis is all about sustainable living
