yer I looked at that, too big for the area I am using sadly :(....Or els Id have bought it.

Are you sure ? It looks like it would fit into that space which you showed on your other thread. It could be just a matter of positioning it to suit, eg the fishtank underneath one growbed and the other growbed wherever it can fit.

yer its the piping an sump tanks etc that are problem. its a well used area as the shed holds alot of stuff I use daily. Think I might have a look at the entertainer system at backyard when they open. Alot of contradictions though. I am told 1000 lt tank isnt nearly enough unless you just wanna have 5-6 fish every 8 months

I think CunningStunter reply sums it up very well....

It is not so much a contradiction as people here knowing that there is a big difference between a *safe and new AP'er proof* stocking capacity for a basic 'off shelf ready to go' and the effort it takes to keep a system with higher stocking rates without high risk of fish losses.

Buidoi hit the nail on the head. You are currently talking an off the shelf simple flood&drain or constant flood system. So limitations present until you start looking at other options and have experience to deal with the various issues that higher stocking cause.

the 1000L is pretty clear. Water volume = buffering capacity. A lot of people grow things with 1000-1500L systems, but if you are in for food fish then for almost the same cost a 2000L circular tank offers a lot more benefits and future options. It is not just a double size = 2x benefit outcome, actually you get probably 3-4x benefit at the whole system level. Most here are clearly thinking that $3500 should get you to a 2000L system.

The one good thing with a small 1000L system from BYAP is it will slot easily into a bigger system
and can easily be converted into other types of systems.

So if I go to back yard, an ask for a 2k lt tank wont they stack another few grand on price?. its already 3.5k before its installed which is 700$ in itself. While I am happy to do research etc I have zero DIY. As an ex fisherman I am well versed in looking after fish numbers, in ocean. But freshwater is new to me. Along with a 2k tank comes heavy duty pumps filters sumps etc yes?.. so even more cost. That Entertainer system, seems a bit laughable, if it can only produce a few small fish a year for so much money.

Backyards own advertising says I can grow 50 KG fish a year in that system, so is that rubbish sales hype?

If I buy the 2k tank do I "Need" 3 growbeds as well ? or does 2 do same job?

You can have whatever size tank you like. So long as you stock the tank to the growbed capacity :)
