This is the first time I had a problem fitting the Trout in a fry pan. So next year a bigger fry pan and more feed to the Trout.

24 dispatched today and tomorrow I will start on the last 40 or so.



The second heat wave this year and after 4 days the tanks are up to 23.5c. DO is still over 9.

I took 6 trout from the large system last night and tickled them into submission. These were the largest 2, 885g for the biggest one.

I could not imagine eating a trout that size. I have been eating ones around 500g and am just getting through them. I may have to start filleting them and only go for one fillet at a time. Bugger.

Thanks. Yea, it would be a massive meal for one. We just split the flesh from a 745g one from last night between 3 of us for lunch, eaten with salad from the AP, it was just right. If I get any really big ones, I might try making steaks from it- slicing across the spine.

Unfortunately I cannot get my wife to eat any as she has watched them grow up so to speak. I am working on it though.

i certainly find that close to 1kg is the ideal size for trout, but i quite often share with a friend and it may be all we eat.

Can't be bothered carrying through summer this year so out they came as the heat rolls on.

Buy a commercial trout and get her to eat that.. and then ask, how is it different..

Thanks Martin. Only 8 trout. I got the gut n gilling down packed but I wouldn't like to do too many more in one sitting...

BuiDoi I cannot print the reply my wife gave to your suggestion. I will get her to eat the Trout one day.

I have had some up to 900g and I get four good meals out of them.You have the first one hot,smoked or fried and the rest cold over a couple of days.It is really nice cold and any juice laying around turns into a nice jelly when cold.Saves filliting.
