DB, I think the reason people throw manure into ponds is to get plankton to grow for the fish to eat.

DB... got no idea of the economics or rationale....for what ever reason the company seems to be selling their product to the aquaculture farms in Asia.....

My interest was merely in obtaining an analysis of the product, whether it actually had any protein component which would account for fish growth or as you pointed out whether in fact it merely promoted algae growth.

I'll let you know when the bloke calls back.

DD That is what I thought, but what is wrong with local manure? There must be something I have not considered.

Thanks Rupert, I am curious about what import pooh is economical for. When I can not figure why things are done, it always makes me curious...learning opportunity?

As you can see, things are filling up. Well, my personal experience is that fluorex lights SUCK!! It ran for 2 days and quit. So, I have ordered another CFL this one is 200 watts and has a porcelain mogul base so I am hopeful it will be more durable. The strawberries are long and leggy, but as you can see here they are setting fruit, which is more than I ever expected given the lighting conditions at the moment.

Hope you save the fish. What happened? Did a hose coupling fail?
I had my outside pond pump all the water out. After that, I put my pump inlet at the half way down level. So, if it happened again, half the water would remain when the pump started sucking air.

Messy cleanup indoors....bad luck! Hope nothing was ruined.

Ok,

I still have NO idea what happened. Of course the carpet is drenched throughout the entire room leaving me no clue where it started. Water has seeped through along all 3 walls in the crawl space....so no help there either. I have sucked up as much water as I could with the steam cleaner (about 5 buckets full) still squishy wet though

I have put every fan in the house in there, but u can already smell the stale water smell....you know like a damp basement smell. DH is PISSED, we got into a big fight...just what I needed, as if I wasn't already upset enough.

Here's the thing...nothing seems to be leaking. For 100 + gallons of water to drain on a 15 minute every 2 hour cycle between 6pm (all was well when I fed fish last evening) and 7am, you would think when I ran it through a fill cycle I could easily locate a gushing water source....but I have nothing. All the fittings look tight and no water. The tank and stand are completely dry. The top growbed is also dry with no sign of water. So far I have not lost a drop of the water I have put back in. WTF?!? If it weren't for the drenching wet carpet I would swear to you nothing was wrong.

So, the Mommy weather service has issued a flood watch for the sunroom. Do not attempt to walk across standing water. People caught in a giant puddle run the risk of assuming blame for the flood. Most indoor flood related deaths are due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This has been a public service from your local Mommy weather service.

I had the inlet pump about 1/4 way down the tank in case something like this happened, but the fish must have dislodged it or the suction cups failed because it was sitting on the bottom this morning.

Ouch, thanks for sharing.
Do you have any air or other lines in the fish tank that may have caused a syphon leak?
