Hopefully I have found what is causing the water to drop but I suspect it is actually evaporation.

Also the duckweed in the fishtank seems to be disappearing.

My blue LEDs insect attracting lights also had a failure. the waterproof coating failed in two places.

It's completely normal to see a 10% loss of water per week... in summer, and depending on your planting... it could even be more like 20%...

You may be loosing some to evaporation... as your beds are newly planted and the media exposed...

But the vast majority of water loss is due to transpiration.. rather than evaporation...

I have 50 jade perch and I tried to feed them a handful of 2mm food.

I had heard their feeding is quite a sight to see. However none of it has been touched 3ish hours later.

The bottom of the tank does have a bit of leaf matter except around where they are schooling.

Congrats on the system catprog. The green growth is very impressive.
I haven't got my fish yet - so I am keen to see how your jade perch will work out. Any pictures? What is their length?
How did you keep your system cycling while you waited for your fish?

I think it was a bunch of leaves that started it off. Then I had some goldfish that were in the main tank and then the sump tank.

Started with 4, one died (by getting stuck in a pipe) and another one did but I got it out in time, and now I have at least five.

No pictures of the jade perch though unfortunately.

Update:

A storm took the jade perch out last year.

Something took out the goldfish after they got moved to the sump tank(8)

One goldfish left.(who missed the transfer to the sump)

Today I had to drain the fish tank( termites had gotten to the base and it was leaning to the small pipe side)

Now it is leaning slightly to the large pipe side.
