A while back i posted on my thread i was teaching AP to students from Myanmar[Burma] so here is our thread,its been slow due to several circumstances,the weather being the main one,but over the last two weeks we have finally got things moving.The brief was it had to be cheap so as the hill tribes stood a chance of copying it so i choose NFT,my first choice would have have been DWC but the first system is on a roof where we didnt know if the weight would suitable,but DWC would be my first choice.
These are the first pics of us working on our system,this consists of three barrels,the big one is the fish tank,the two 80l are the filter and pump tank,we have painted them white to help reflect the sun,in practise this works ok and the water temps are not to bad,we will have a shade cloth cover though when its running.We made a frame to bring the 55 gallon barrel up to the height of the 80l barrels for our water height.

These show how we have laid out the plumbing,there is a slo in the fish tank,going into the first barrel which will be 75% full of bottle caps,thanks Sleepe,there it will go into the second barrel which i am not quite sure how to configure yet.maybe shade cloth or bird netting,thats to be decided.The water will upflow through the bottle caps into the next barrel.

We had a competition who could cut the squarest pipe,the girls won hands down.

These children are fantastic,there enthusiasm is contagious,it really is a pleasure to be with them.

They are a credit to the boss Neville,who's ideal of teaching AP was his,our goal is hopefully for them to take away from there course things they can implement in there villages,Udo the older boy from the group has already said he will copy this back in his village.
The last picture of the girls sat in the door way is my little tease,it was very hot and us boys were getting on with it while they sat in the cool of the house,i told them i would post it..heheheh

Great stuff, how is there English?

None everything is done through a translator,but if they do something good and i give big thumbs up that goes down a treat,these kids are fantastic they are a credit to there parents and to the guy that chose them for the course, our few hours together is just not enough time.

The stand with the FT. Did you make that or buy it?

I am also teaching my kids AP. Every day we check and discuss the levels. Then we have a look at the plants. The youngest is 8, at school she learn plants need 'food, water, air'. I was able to build on this little bit of knowledge to explain roots breathe oxygen (as do fish), the nitrogen cycle and NPK.

They're really enjoying it and it backs up the boring theory they're learning at school.

Hi Plachon,the FT stand i had made,we had a guy come in for a day,i showed what we wanted and he knocked up the stand and the support frames for the NFT,we should put that together this week so more pics to follow.
