I thought as much. Water is circulating pretty heavily and constantly flowing, plus it's well aerated so I'm not sure what else I could do.

I wish my damn refractometer was working properly, no idea why it's not showing more than 0.5ppt, well that is unless I test totally saline water in which case it seems to work, lol. No idea what the salt levels are in the water right now, but I guess the more the merrier at this point, especially if the nitrite spikes.

Why are dentists still a thing?

Surely they could come up with a mouth wash, or some sort of tooth coating that'll make them solids and not need fillings?

I don't wanna go to the denist :(

Or give us a chunk of shark DNA, so when a tooth goes a little dodgy, it falls out and a new one grows in. It'd be so much easier.

I agree!

I'm ashamed to admit it, but it's been about 20 years since I last went to the dentist... :shifty:

Weeeeeeeeell.... It looks like I'm just determined to ruin these poor trout. Thought I should check on them after doing the school run this morning, opened the lid up to this:

 :boggle: :sad1:

I have no idea where the water went! The only thing I can think of is it very gradually splashed out from the GB yesterday and overnight after I buried a sack of zeolite under the inlet pipe. No other indications of a leak bar two of the cut vertical IBC cage bars have a bit of water in them where I assume it splashed in.

So I've done an emergency fill of water from the second tank, but it was water from the trout tank I put in there yesterday so I still have the ammonia (and now nitrite) issue. A friend is going to bring around some more rainwater later today. It's frustrating I don't have any left here so I could just get it done! And until I can test the tap water for chlorine and chloramines now I don't want to use it direct.

How these fish are still alive is beyond me. I think if they don't straight up die I'm going to be seeing signs of illness very shortly. In fact I've already noticed one thing with one of the males, it seems to have lost it's hook from it's bottom jaw.

And in related news it turns out I have 9 left from last years trout batch, not 7-8 that I thought. :shifty:

You are having a good run it seems.

It's a little late now, but look into one of these:

They'll suck the chlorine out.

It doesn't take long for a little drip to loose a lot of water.

Without having any way of testing if it does anything or not, I'll go with it works great.

It makes me feel better anyway.

I bought one of those total chlorine test kits, but it didn't show up with anything on pure tap water, I think they are designed for chlorine levels in pools.

But I've dumped 4000L in once and all the fish were fine.

*shrugs*

Cool, can't hurt to give one a go anyway given how cheap they are. Water level is steady again thankfully, it must have just gradually splashed out. I think my trout hate me though, lol.

If they are still alive, then you're doing better than I did a month ago.
